Tassel Turn Confirms Success: Loyola's 6th Graduation Day, GLORIAM '25
BENGALURU, October 4, 2025 – Loyola Degree College (LDC) successfully hosted its 6th Graduation Day, ceremoniously titled "Gloriam 2025," marking the academic culmination for the B.A. and B.Com. batches of 2022-2025. The event, broadcast by Loy-TV and hailed as a "Day of Triumph and Glory," honoured 126 dedicated students who officially received their degrees. The ceremony was a profound testament to the three years of unwavering hard work and memorable life journey undertaken by these Loyolites.
The nomenclature of the event, 'Gloriam' - a powerful Latin word signifying "glory," "fame," "honour," and "renown" - perfectly encapsulated the magnitude of this milestone, which adds a brilliant "feather in the cap" for each graduate and a significant chapter in the college's history.
Professor Dr. Ronald Mascarenhas, Pro-Vice Chancellor of St. Joseph's University, Bengaluru, presided as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Mascarenhas underscored the enduring relevance of the Jesuit institutional ethos, urging the graduates to embrace continuous learning and profound humility. He shared an essential life lesson, advising them to always "wear your white belt," signifying the importance of maintaining the open-mindedness and simplicity of a beginner, regardless of future achievements. He further emphasized that success is a continuous process, stating, "We shine because we keep working on ourselves."
Fr. Denzil W. Lobo, SJ, Finance Officer of Loyola Institutions and President of the ceremony, offered three guiding principles for the graduates' next professional chapter: to "have the courage to be yourself, live with purpose, and stay rooted in people and values." Earlier, Principal Dr. Fr. Alphonse Pius Fernandes SJ celebrated the student body’s impressive transformation, noting their evolution into "wiser, more mature and more self-aware" individuals prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
The college recognized exceptional dedication by conferring the Best Outgoing Student awards upon Tejashwini M. for B.Com. and Sr. Mattupalli Jyothi for B.A. The solemn proceedings concluded with the graduates taking a formal pledge, the symbolic moving of the tassel from right to left—a powerful transition from scholar to graduate—and a candlelight procession, symbolizing their institutional commitment to spreading knowledge, compassion, and service.
The institution extends its deepest congratulations, viewing this significant achievement as a definitive Launchpad for a new phase of life filled with the very best in all future endeavours. Programme convenors were Mr. Lazarus and Ms. Kavya R.
