IGNATIAN PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON 3 (IPL)
The preparation for the IPL season 3 began with the auctioning of players on June 12, 2023. Five teams were created that included two owners and an iconic player each.
The tournament began on June 17, 2023 at 8 am at Loyola Ground with the presence of Fr Balaraju A SJ as the chief guest. It was presided by the President of the program Fr Anthony Joseph SJ, Rector, Mount St Joseph and our beloved principal Dr Fr Alphonse Fernandes SJ. The program also witnessed the presence of Dr Vincent A, Vice Principal, Mr Karthik K.K, Physical Education Director, and Shreekanth, Sports Secretary.
The inaugural program started with a prayer by the college choir. Shreekanth, sports secretary welcomed the gathering. Ms Swetha introduced the chief guest and later honored by the dignitaries. The chief guest in his address stressed the importance of such events and wished IPL a success. Tharika proposed the vote of thanks. The event kick started with the chief guest facing the first ball bowled by Fr Anthony Joseph SJ.
The tournament saw a total of 13 matches of 4 overs each, which included the final match and an exhibition match by the women’s team. A total of over 90 players took part in the tournament. Simultaneously Student Council hosted fun games for the audience. Rising Strikers emerged as the winners of the tournament and Smite Masters won the runners up. The orange cap and the purple cap were awarded to Manish and Abhishek respectively.
Ms Rowena welcomed the gathering at the valedictory. Fr Alphonse Fernandes SJ, Principal made the concluding remarks. The sponsors of the tournament were honored. Mr Karthik delivered the vote of thanks followed by the prize distribution. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
The IPL and the fun games were sponsored by ‘Skypool Fitness’, ‘Madesh Silks & Sarees’ and ‘Femi Anion’. Nishant Agarwalla, student of final year BA made the show attractive with his eloquent commentary and the whole event was covered by Loy TV
